I created this painting for the cover art of a friend's memoir. His story is about his dream of becoming a dancer and the hardships he overcame while achieving and living that dream. He came through through the fires of adversity and is fueled by the fire within his heart for dance.

The octopus is such a magical creature! After reading 'Remarkably Bright Creatures' by Shelby Van Pelt (I highly recommend this read), I became so curious about these creative, shape shifting, tool using, problem solving beauties of the sea. I love the sense of wonder I feel when I think about how incredible these and other creatures in nature are. I would love to have a real life experience with an octopus like the one I've captured in this painting someday.
